Micro-lesson 1
Satellites (the ones that stay near Earth)
Go outside was how you look up. This courtyard is how humans send hardware — and sometimes people — off the porch.
A satellite is anything in orbit. The Moon is a natural one. The rest we built.
They stay up the same way planets do: falling toward Earth and missing. Low ones circle in about 90 minutes. That is why a bright satellite can cross your sky in minutes.
Jobs from orbit:
- weather and maps
- phones, TV, navigation
- looking at Earth, looking out at space
They are not hanging on invisible strings. They are in a continuous fall.
